Speed of Thought. Pressure & Decision Making.

Advanced technical training that bridges the gap between practice speed and game speed for the experienced player.

What We Teach

Training the Brain, Not Just the Feet In Foundation Two, the focus shifts from “how to kick the ball” to “when and where to kick it.” At the advanced level, technical skill is meaningless if it cannot be executed under pressure. Our advanced soccer training curriculum creates chaotic, high-pressure scenarios that force players to make split-second decisions.

We focus heavily on 1v1 Dominance (both attacking and defending), Escaping Pressure (using the body to shield and turn), and The First Touch. In modern soccer, the first touch buys you time; a bad touch costs you possession. By refining these mechanics in a high-repetition environment, we ensure your player is comfortable with the ball even when a defender is breathing down their neck.

The FTBL Difference

The “Missing Link” in Player Development Most youth club teams practice twice a week, with a heavy focus on team tactics, formations, and set pieces. While this is necessary for winning games, it often leaves little time for individual player development. This is where FTBL Academy bridges the gap.

Foundation Two acts as the perfect supplement to your child’s current club schedule. We are not a team; we are a “Technical Lab.” While their club coach focuses on the team’s shape, we focus on your child’s mechanics. We break down the micro-movements—hip mobility, scanning the field, and weight of pass—that get overlooked in large team practices. This “individual-first” approach allows players to return to their club teams sharper, faster, and more confident than their teammates.

The Outcome

The goal is Competence Under Pressure. Students graduate with the ability to execute their skills even when an opponent is trying to take the ball away. This is the perfect supplement for club players wanting to sharpen their edge.

Frequently Asked Questions for Competitive Parents

Question 1: My child plays for a club (ECNL/GA/MLS Next). Is this suitable?

Yes. A significant portion of our Foundation Two students play for high-level club teams. This program is designed to be “club neutral” and supplemental. We respect the load placed on elite players and focus on technical refinement that complements, rather than conflicts with, their team training. It is the extra 1% that makes the difference on game day.

Question 2: How intense is the physical demand?

The intensity is high, but it is mental as much as physical. We use “Cognitive Load” drills where players must solve problems while fatigued. Expect your player to work hard, but the priority is always quality of movement over mindless conditioning.

Question 3: Is this strictly co-ed?

Yes, our groups are mixed gender. At the advanced technical level, the ball does not care who is kicking it. We group players primarily by ability and speed of play. If a player dominates their current group, we move them up to ensure they are constantly challenged, regardless of age or gender.

Question 4: How do we get invited to the FTBL Academy Teams?

Foundation Two is the primary scouting ground for our competitive squads. Our coaches constantly evaluate players for the “Academy Standard”—a combination of technical ability, coachability, and game insight. If we believe a player is ready to transition from training to competition, we will invite parents for a discussion about joining our official teams.
